Phầm mềm LightZone dựa trên khái niệm Zone system của Ansel adams và Frank Meyers để chỉnh sửa ảnh. Do đó dễ dàng và nhanh chóng chỉnh sửa ảnh gốc nhưng không làm thay đổi ảnh gốc (Như bức ảnh Ngôi Nhà Cỏ của bác Longpt mình thử sử dụng soft này để chỉnh chỉ mất khoảng 2 phút, không cần làm các thao tác phức tạp như trong photoshop. Dĩ nhiên do trình độ của mình quá yếu kém nên chỉnh sửa không được đẹp cho lắm).
Phần mềm này rất dễ sử dụng, không đòi hỏi các lệnh hay thay tác phức tạp như trong photoshop. Dĩ nhiên soft này sẽ không bằng photoshop do không có sự chỉnh sữa sâu và chi tiết như photoshop.
LightZone gồm các công cụ chỉnh sửa sau (áp dụng cho tất cả dạng file ảnh như raw, jpeg, tiff):
- Zone Mapper: chỉnh sửa độ sáng (brightness), lộ sáng (exposure), tương phản (constract) của toàn bộ/ từng phẩn bức ảnh. Zone mapper chia làm 16 vùng sáng theo thang độ xám. Vùng liền kề cách nhay 50% độ sáng tức 1/2 stop.
- Tone Mapper: chỉnh độ tương phản toàn bộ / từng phần bức ảnh bằng kỹ thuật mặt nạ tương phản trong buồng tối.
- Sharpen: chỉnh độ sắc nét toàn bộ/từng phần bức ảnh
- Gaussian Blur: chỉnh độ mờ nhoè của bức ảnh
- Hue/Saturation: chỉnh màu Hue/Saturation or Luminance
- Color Balance: Chỉnh cân bằng màu
- White Balance: Chỉnh cân bằng trắng
- Channel Mixer: Chuyển ảnh màu thành trắng đen
- Noise Reduction: Khử độ nhiễu ảnh
- Clone tool: copy 1 vùng này vào vùng khác. Sử dụng để loại bỏ bụi, trầy sướt, vết lem.... ra khỏi bức ảnh.
